The pretty and historic spa town of Brides les Bains is nestled in the foothills of the Meribel Valley and remains one of its best kept secrets. The gondola ride connecting Brides les Bains with Meribel and the 3 Valleys is a gateway to some of the most snow-sure skiing in the French Alps and at a price that makes weekend skiing accessible to all – not just the locals.
For Brides les Bains, known more as a summer spa town, winter tourism is a happy accident and as such it remains true to its French roots in stark contrast to the purpose built resort s higher up the valley. The centre of the town is compact, criss- crossing the fast flowing river that runs through it with small bridges which lead to a sprinkling of shops, some very good restaurants, bars, 2 nightclubs and a casino. The town has a world class luxury spa, open in the winter to skiers to ease those aching muscles tired from grounding out the miles on the slopes above. This curious mix makes Brides les Bains unique in the 3 Valleys – charming, grounded and affordable.
Ski Area
It is not only the sheer size and altitude that makes the 3 Valleys such a superb ski area (600 kms of piste with over 200 lifts) it is the ease with which it is interlinked and the variety of terrain on offer. Even with only a few days at your disposal it is possible to ski in all 3 Valleys and back again, having cruised the sweeping red and blue runs of Courchevel, hammered the snow park in Meribel and gone above the tree line in the snow sure Val Thorens. As a beginner do not be intimidated, a single valley pass will provide access to the gentle runs of the Altiport in Meribel; the perfect playground on which to learn and get bitten by the ski bug.

Ski Area and Lift Passes
Still the biggest inter-linked ski area in the world with over 600kms of piste serviced by over 200 ski lifts; the 3 Valleys is consistently improving in comfort and speed to ensure an unbeatable alpine experience. A great snow record is complimented by a multitude of snow canons and grooming facilities ensuring the best possible conditions and whatever your ability there is something for everyone.
Beginners ****
We recommend:
Meribel Valley Pass provides access to the nursery slopes located at the Altiport as well as providing some excellent blue runs higher up as you progress to the next stage. A Meribel lift pass is necessary for beginners ski school.
Intermediates *****
We recommend:
Meribel Valley Pass: For a short stay one valley s adequate as it also includes the expansive Mottaret area and is great value for money.
3 Valley Pass: For a more experienced intermediate a full area pass offers more scope and freedom to dip into the other valleys and explore further afield .
Advanced *****
We recommend:
3 Valley Pass: An accomplished skier can visit all 3 Valleys in just a weekend, and for longer stays the sheer expanse of the area will provide enough of a challenge. This also opens up access to the off-piste terrain – only reconmmended with an experienced guide.
Equipment Hire Partner – Freeride
Our ski hire partner in the 3 valleys is FREERIDE; a specialist ski shop in Meribel and Courchevel. They set up a purpose built shop in the reception of our Club Hotel in Brides les Bains, manned by English speaking ski techs passionate about the mountains. Our clients benefit not only from the convenience of an in-house service but also from Freeride’s quality equipment and professional service. As well as ski and snowboard rental, they offer a full range of services including; ski test centre, servicing, professional boot fitting and a full range of clothing and essential accessories in their main shop located at the top of the Olympe Gondola in Meribel.
Equipment
The equipment is guaranteed to be no more than one year old, which means you can stay ahead by skiing or boarding on some of the latest equipment available from top brands like Head, K2, Salomon and Volkl.
Ski Lesson Partner – ESF
Created in 1945 by locals from the Valley, the French Ski School in Meribel has become one of the biggest ski schools in France and combines a fifty year old tradition with a dynamic and friendly team. The ESF can offer tuition for all levels and in all snow sports including skiing, snowboarding, cross country and more. Whether you are taking your first lessons, wanting to improve and refine your technique or just ski with a professional to find the best runs and snow as quickly as possible there are lessons to suit your needs.

3 Day Weekend Course
Join our small group weekend courses, exclusive to our clients.
Aimed at beginners only our weekend courses are designed to offer a taster into skiing or boarding with 90 minutes of professional tuition on 3 consecutive days. Times are planned to ensure that coach arrivals can comfortably meet the lessons. A minimum of 2 people are required to run the course, ask for details at time of booking.

5 Day Ski School
Group lessons are available for every level and combine professional tuition with a sociable atmosphere. We recommend 5 morning lessons starting on Monday, which fit best around out coach arrival and departure times. Lessons at peak times should be requested at the time of booking and as far in advance as possible.

Private Lessons
Private lessons are the only other option for weekend skiers. These can be organised for individuals and small groups of the same standard and are available in morning, lunchtime and afternoon slots. Please note that these should be requested well in advance as at peak times instructors may only be available at lunchtimes for private lessons.
