I’ve become completely fascinated with the whole concept of an aquaponic garden. A friend of mine, who just happens to live in a townhouse and has very limited yard space, introduced me to this concept a few years ago. She had purchased “Aquaponics4You”,which is a diy aquaponics how to course, and set out to grow as many vegetables and herbs she could in her extremely small outdoor space.

Her set-up was very similar to the one shown here, however the quantity of her produce was much greater. With this aquaponics system she was able to sustain as much harvest as I myself was cultivating in a much much larger area of ground.

I borrowed the aquaponics4you book and video from her so I could review it and determine if this was a valid course for your average aquaponics how to beginner. After examining her aquaponics system and listening to her explain how she had built it, it all seemed relatively plausible for anyone to do, but I wanted to review the layout of the course for myself before recommending it to anyone else.

The above image shows the basic concept behind aquaponics systems. The cycle involves fish, whose waste water contains many nutrients which fertilize the plants. The fish water (with nutrient heavy waste) is pumped into the plant growbed. The water from the growbed (which has now been cleaned by the plants), is then returned to the fish tank. The cycle goes around and around in one continuous flow.

The great thing is all you need to do is feed the fish and make sure the entire aquaponics system is functioning correctly (with correct water levels, etc). There is no weeding, no feeding the plants, no anything else. All one needs to do is figure out how to correctly build the system so that the fish get the proper amount of oxygen and the water flow is continuous from fish to plants and back to fish again.

Did the Aquaponics4You book and video demonstrate well how a total novice could build this aquaponics system?

Aquaponics4You Review

I give my personal thumbs up, 5 star recommendation for Aquaponics4You. To you that means I would have no problem whatsoever recommending this course to my fellow gardening friends and family.

  • The video was easy to follow step-by-step instructions that a complete non diy’er could easily follow. I decided to go ahead and purchase my own copy of the Aquaponics4You course and was pleasantly surprised to discover that the video was available to watch online immediately. Additionally a hard copy dvd was shipped to my home.
  • The accompanying pdf was also easy to follow and laid out an exact list of the supplies required to build a home aquaponics system
  • Customer support was very quick. I myself had a couple questions and John (the course creator) responded back with answers in less than 24 hours. His answers were very precise and answered my questions completely.
  • Budget friendly! Aquaponics4You is an aquaponics how to use items you may already have around the house or can easily and cheaply find at your local hardware store
  • 60 Day Money Back Guarantee! If you’re not completely satisfied with the instructions and course, you will be refunded your full payment in the first 60 days from the time of purchase.
  • Bonuses galore! In addition to the Aquaponics4You pdf and video, you also receive 6 additional books and reports on organic gardening and organic food.
  • Our special DISCOUNT! My friend and myself paid $37 for this course. At that price I felt it was way underpriced. However, for anyone who purchases the course through this page you will receive the course for ONLY $17. This is a special discount that I have arranged for my readers.

Was there anything I didn’t like about Aquaponics4You?

Two things. John could have slowed down just a little bit in the video. It’s not that he went too fast, I just felt he could have gone a little slower. However, the video is 15 minutes long, so you can easily repay it several times. Also, don’t forget your pause button.

The other thing is this. As I mentioned, John shows you how to use items you may already have around the home to build your own home aquaponics system. Because of this, the system he builds in the video is not the most attractive thing in the world. If you want to glamour up your system, you may need to go through the course a few times to determine what items you could substitute for some of the on-hand items he uses.

Once you grasp the whole set-up, which doesn’t take long, you’ll be able to easily figure out what items you could use to beautify your own aquaponics system. As a matter of fact, here’s an image I found of what I consider to be a pretty darn good looking system (much more attractive than the one John built in the video)

Watch this video of how a Colorado gardener has utilized aquaponics in her year round greenhouse. Coincidentally, I’m also from Colorado so I was quite interested in how her system was working for her in a greenhouse situation. You do not need a greenhouse, nor do you need to use talapia fish as she does. Building an indoor aquaponics system or a backyard aquaponics system are just as easy. The benefit for her of the talapia and trout are that she (or her friends) eat them, so they are really taking full advantage of the food cycle.
